I’m somewhat sad to see that some people immediately believe something is wrong with Carlos and Cecil’s relationship if Cecil doesn’t mention Carlos in an episode, or talks about broken relationships in some way.
Night Vale is not about their relationship. Night Vale is not about their relationship. Night Vale is not about their relationship.
Sure, yes, it adds a nice bit to the show, and it’s nice to hear about Cecil’s relationship, but honestly. We don’t have to hear about it in every single episode.

There is a problem.
A really, really big problem.
“Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger" seems to have become a popular phrase on tumblr!
..The problem is… that’s NOT what they’re saying in the anime. This is a mistranslation. A BIG one. If you would like proof, go ahead and check the official funimation subbed version of the song. Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger. Is. Wrong. It also loosely translates (with bad grammar and messed up pronouns) to: You are the food and we are the hunters. Make much sense in the context? No. Not really. The actual phrase is:
Sind sie das Essen? Nein, wir sind der Jäger.
Translating to: Are you the food? No. We are the hunters.
Make more sense?
PLEASE SPREAD THIS AROUND. IT’S IMPORTANT.
I wouldn’t say it is a BIG mistranslation or a really really big problem. Technically both make equally as much sense in German, because they’re both wonky. The only difference is that one seems to be from the officially released lyrics and the other is what the lyrics sound like.
WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE
"Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger"
[“They are the food and we are the hunters”]
Replace the awkwardly chosen “Essen” with “Beute” and we have a coherent “We’re the hunters and they’re the prey” sentence. They apparently only picked “Essen” because it sounds like “Esa” which is Japanese for “prey” (also: bait and food when animals eat it).
Type of error: Vocabulary
WHAT IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE
"Sind Sie das Essen?" - “Nein, wir sind die Jäger!"
[“Are you the food?” - “No, we are the hunters!”]
This is supposed to be a dialogue between Titans and Humanity. The wonky part about this one is that “Sind Sie” is either third person plural or a polite second person singular (only if the S is capitalized though). It’s kind of hilarious to use the polite “Sie” in this kinda context, so if Titans were to address all humans, it should rather be the second person plural “Seid Ihr”.
In context, it would actually make more sense if it was “Seid Ihr unser Fressen?” but let’s not make this more complicated.
Type of error: Grammar
Conclusion: Both are wrong but in different flavors.
if i see one more shitty and condescending comic about how workers are all droid-like hiveminds wasting their life away while intellectuals and artists are the true shining beacons for us all to follow i’m going to smash up an art gallery with a hammer
"Travel you fuckin robot! It costs money you don’t have but whatever"
