Moriarty did not show up at the hospital because she was in love with Holmes.
She showed up at the hospital for the same reasons every abusive monster shows up at the hospital (or wherever) after beating (physically or emotionally) a partner/victim into incapacity. It’s a phase in a cycle of sadistic abuse and it’s an opportunity for the scumbag in question to deepen the dependence of the person they abuse. She showed up in order to exert the power of being able to nurse her victim back to health. She showed up because she needs her victim.
I really want to see Elementary but I love BBC-
